WORLD DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIPS SUCCESS

Eleanor Jones (USU B) was claimed the World's Best Speaker at the Worlds Universities Debating Championships (WUDC) held in Chennai, India. USU B (Eleanor Jones and Chris Bisset) made it to the Grand Final of the WUDC but were unfortunately beaten by Harvard in a very close encounter which also featured teams from Cambridge and Glasgow. Over 1,200 students from 60 countries participated in the championships held 27th Dec - 4th Jan. USU had representation by 3 teams and 15 adjudicators. All 3 teams made the finals along with 8 adjudicators. USU C (Evie Woodforde and Daniel Farinha) were Octo Finalists and USU A (Dom Bowes and Joanna Connolly) made it as far as the Quarter Finals. Along side Best Speaker, Eleanor Jones, Chris Bisset was crowned 4th Best Speaker of the tournament and Joanna Connolly was 8th best. Congratulations to all teams, best speakers and adjudicators.
