Catmosphere Cat Cafe is the purrrfect feline-lovers experience
Kopal Mathur is really feline this cafe.
If you’re looking for the perfect place to rest and recharge, for some quiet celebration, or simply for your daily cat fix, Catmosphere Cat Cafe is the place to be. The quirky café offers a menu that features a variety of quality drinks, several unique experiences including ‘Catflix Cat Cinema’ and ‘Cat Yoga’ and the opportunity to interact with some of Sydney’s most adorable and affectionate cats and kittens.
Catmosphere Cat Cafe is evidently defined by an incredible passion for cats and their wellbeing. They advocate for all cats, focus on their welfare and rehome those looking for a family. The Catmosphere Cat Cafe partners with rescue groups such as the World League for Protection of Animals and Kitten University to foster cats and kittens and ensure they have a sustainable and safe place to be until they find a permanent, loving home.
This remarkable initiative, coupled with the creation of a relaxing, comfortable place for people to de-stress, really makes the café worth the excitement. A friend’s birthday party led me to Catmosphere Cat Café, located just a 10 minute walk from Central Station. Unfortunately, I didn’t expect to have my cat allergy reveal itself so soon but the many blissful minutes before the incident were truly worth the pain (those with sensitive sinuses be warned!).
Catmosphere offers a range of adventures for visitors - we chose “The Treehouse” experience, where we would be relaxing in with a collection of adoptable junior cats and kittens. The Treehouse lived up to its name, with a cosy room lined with plants, a small fireplace with bright kaleidoscope wallpaper, along with cushioned chairs and couches, I felt truly at home here. There were cats hidden around every corner, some snuggled into their spots on a tower or hiding beneath chairs, either playful or adorably sleepy. This was an entirely immersive but relaxing experience as we enjoyed our drinks whilst playing with the cats around us.
The prices are reasonable too: $22 for both the Treehouse experience and drinks. Visitors can also choose to visit the alternative ‘Cat Lounge’ experience which is no doubt just as calming. Whilst ‘Cat Yoga’ has caught the attention of Buzzfeed and the Daily Telegraph, “Catflix Cat Cinema” actually seems to be the most exciting of them all, adding a twist to the regular cinema experience by introducing cats and their calming energy to the mix (for an extra price). Drinks and comfy seats while watching a movie with the most endearing rescue cats is truly all you need to have a relaxing and fun time.
Most of the cats at Catmosphere are permanent residents of the cafe, but often there will be some felines up for adoption too - which adds to the experience for those potentially looking for a new furry friend. The café also has sponsorship programs, allowing you to make a difference for cats that need rehoming while being able to visit the café twice a month without the long term responsibility of owning a pet (perfect for students!)
Overall, I was genuinely surprised with how much I enjoyed myself at Catsmosphere Cat Cafe. It’s the perfect place for cat-lovers and a stellar way to provide for cats that need a home. You can find out more here.
