People on the dole currently get a fortnightly maximum of $545.80 if the person is single and and $590.40 if there is a dependant. That’s not much, so there has been lobbying to raise that amount by $50 per week. Which is still not much.
 
Liberal backbencher Julia Banks however thinks it’s plenty. She voiced her conviction by claiming that she would absolutely be able to live on that amount.
