Tony Abbott sledges safe schools program

Tony Abbott has condemned the Safe Schools program - an initiative which aims to educate school children on the acceptance of their LGBTI* peers - as “social engineering”, calling for its funding to be cut.
 

Yeah, did we expect anything else really?

The ex-PM and alleged Lizard-man has accused Safe Schools of not being aimed at anti-bullying, his views echoing those of Monday night’s Q&A shit-stirrer Lyle Shelton who argues a broader more generic anti-bullying program that doesn’t “contest gender ideology” should take its place, although “contest[ing]” gender ideology” is one of the few things the world is doing right at the moment (see: Caitlyn Jenner, Laverne Cox, Transparent)

During the heated debate, Lyle Shelton, the managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby argued that Safe Schools will lead to another “Stolen Generation”, with sperm, eggs and newborn babies forcefully taken from individuals to give to LGBTI* couples. Even if we tryto ignore the utter stupidity of that prediction, the parallel made between surrogacy and donation with the Stolen Generation is disgustingly insensitive.

Meanwhile, current PM Malcolm Turnbull has defended his program during question time on Tuesday calling it a “responsible thing to do” despite criticism from members of his party, including but not limited to human garbage Cory ‘Homophobe’ Bernardi who reckons the program will "indoctrinate children into a Marxist agenda of cultural relativism".

(PS: since when did cultural relativism become a Marxist agenda? SALT pls confirm.)

Since Safe School’s inception, support from Australian organisations nationwide has flooded in, including Headspace, Wesley Mission and the Australian Education Union who are signatories on its official supporters list. .

Among the long list of supporters, Aussie universities have also pledged their allegiance including Macquarie, La Trobe and and Curtin Universities, although not yet the University of Sydney.

The USU announced its support with unanimous approval from the Board of Directors on Friday. In a statement penned by directors Jack Whitney, Queer portfolio holder, and Vice-President Liv Ronan, the USU pledged to stand up against homophobia and transphobia as an official supporter of the Safe Schools Program.

“We believe that schools should provide a safe and inclusive environment for all students, so that they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential - free from bullying and discrimination,” the board directors wrote.

“We are proud to support Safe Schools Coalition Australia and its work to create positive change for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, school staff and families.”
