Shannon Noll to be announced as USU Cultural Partner

Shannon Noll is expected to be announced as a cultural partner of the University of Sydney Union (USU) at a meeting of the Board Directors later today.

The Australian Idol runner-up has found a thriving fan-base amongst the University of Sydney student body, after playing a crowded surprise gig during OWeek earlier this year.

Following the success of his surprise gig, and since becoming a bit of a viral meme sensation, Noll attempted to enter the USYD Band Competition in hopes of expanding his fan base in the footsteps of past competitors like The Jezabels, Sarah Blasko and Cloud Control.

USU President, Alisha Aitken-Radburn, however, saw a golden opportunity for a USU partnership instead.

It is believed, as a part of the partnership, Noll will be included as a headline artist at all remaining 2016 parties on campus, and will replace all student performers at lunch times at Manning, Courtyard and on Eastern Avenue.

Aitken-Radburn told Pulp securing the partnership was a “pretty big get” for the Union. However, she refused to comment further until after Friday’s Board meeting at 1pm.

The news is likely to upset diehard supporters of French electronic music artist Darude, who have long hoped the “Sandstorm” producer would headline the Verge Festival later this year.

More details on the Shannon Noll’s partnership are expected to be announced after 12pm.
