Grassroots fail to submit SRC nominations on time

USyd political faction ‘Grassroots’ has failed to submit its nominations for the SRC election due to take place between 19-21 September.
 
The faction, which Pulp understands was hoping to brand itself under the name ‘SWITCH’ after the successful 2014 SRC campaign is understood to have had at least 17 tickets rejected for failing to meet the 4:30pm deadline. 'SWITCH's' NUS delegate nomination was also rejected.
 
While it is understood that presidential candidate Imogen Grant successfully completed her nomination form before the deadline, the failure of other tickets that would have endorsed her to submit their nominations significantly diminishes Grant’s chance of being elected as SRC president.
 
Returning Officer Paulene Grahame advised ‘SWITCH’ that she would consider the nominations, though Pulp understands that in the past late nominations have not been accepted.
 
Onlookers informed Pulp that hopeful ‘SWITCH’ were given a countdown by the returning officer to fill out nominations. 
 
It is believed the Returning Officer will make an initial ruling before 5:15pm, when ‘ballot draw’ is scheduled to occur. Both competing ticket brands have filed separate objections to the inclusion of late 'SWITCH' tickets in the election. Pulp also understands that both Honi tickets have filed separate objections.
