Arts Faculty Board to Increase Late Penalty
WORDS BY EDEN FAITHFULL
This afternoon, members of the Arts Faculty Board voted to increase the penalty for late assignments from a two percent penalty per working day (Monday to Friday), to a five percent penalty every calendar day that the assignment is late. The changes will come into effect in 2018; just in time for the Arts Faculty's merge with the Education and Social Work Faculty.
The matter has resurfaced today after the Board first discussed proposed changes in May this year, as previously reported by Pulp. The proposal had been referred back to the Undergraduate Programs Committee for further review, and was reintroduced this afternoon.
Pulp understands the distinction between working day and calendar day penalties passed only narrowly, with fourteen members of the board voting in favour, with twelve against.
Pulp has sought comment from SRC President Isabella Brook.
More to come as the story progresses.
