Leaked documents reveal Honi Soit's financial ties to muffin industry
Fabian Robertson investigates.
Leaked documents indicate that favourable coverage of the oft-neglected baked product has guaranteed lucrative jobs for Honi Soit editors at the conclusion of their tenure. The corruption is part of a broader 'revolving door' between student journalists and major muffin-producing corporations.
The documents were acquired by Pulp’s investigative team after Honi Soit’s pro-muffin campaign aroused suspicions as to the objectivity of their reporting. The paper published four separate muffin-worshipping articles including a Week 9 Feature on the absence of a muffin-warming microwave at Courtyard.
Pulp understands that Marlow Hurst, known muffin advocate and the author of several pro-muffin puff pieces, has lined up a six-figure job at international muffin conglomerate Muffin Break. Hurst strenuously denied the allegations.
"Everything I've written has been in the public interest! If this had been about a friand, or a cupcake, or even a croissant, I would have pursued it just as tirelessly, " he said.
More to come.
